Real Clinical Data

The speech data provided here is intended to give you a feel for what disordered speech can sound like, the extent to which individual speakers vary in terms of the nature and severity of their difficulties and the similarities too that occur across different speakers within the same clinical group. It will also give you opportunity to practise your listening and transcription skills under more naturalistic and hence also more challenging conditions.

As in Field 2, the target words for transcription in each exercise are numbered and their orthographic gloss given on the transcription sheet. We have also provided sample transcriptions for you to compare against your own. However, unlike the 'answers' in Field 2, these are intended simply to help you interpret the more difficult bits and think analytically about your own transcription. They should not be regarded as "the right answer" but only as one possible way of transcribing the data.
